I have not tested any other mods.ġ) If you need to do a new (re)install, do not opt to let the game install DirectX 8.1. Either delete the files created by the mod, or just reinstall the game from scratch. My Xpadder was outdated, and needed to be downloaded again from the official site to run on Windows 10Ģ) If you installed the modern compatibility fix, as advised by the sidebar, the mod does not play well with Windows 10 and crashes the game instantly. I'll describe what I had to do here to help anyone else who may need a little help.ġ) If you use Xpadder, you may need to download a newer version. However, it is true that it absolutely runs on Windows 10, but it is more fiddly than ever to get it running. ![]() Even when it is brought up, some just say "oh yeah, it works just fine!" without describing the little nuances to get it there. Last night I had a hell of a time figuring out how to run Silent Hill 2 - not because it was difficult, but because there is very little info in this sub or anywhere else on how to run it. Use the correct FOV and enable manual control (page up and page down)Īnd the WSMSH3 fix (widescreen movies), changes the aspect ratio of FMV from 4:3 to 16:9, but i think the intro is the same as the HD Collection, i'm not sure, anyway is a good mod even when SH 3 only has like 4 FMV.Now that Windows 10 has been rolled out and more people have gotten the chance to upgrade, I thought it would be a good time to check in and see how everyone has managed running the PC ports of Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4. The Steam 006 fix also fixes the SH 2 easter eggs, and the depth of field is fine but not as good like the PS2 version, it's probably the best fix for the game, here is the list of features:įullscreen fix for DirectX 8 on Windows 10 The PC audio quality is good but still has worst quality than PS2. The SH 3 PC Sound fix, changes the frequency of the audio files to match the PS2. If there are any other issues you guys have noted, please let me know and I'll add them up here.(Please forgive my formatting scrambling.) PS2 uses a high-pitch, faster scream (same clip sped up?) Mannequin decapitation scene: PC uses Heather's scream. Lakeside Amusement Park Entrance: Figures in "cage-y" box are illuminated instead of in shadow. (A similar scenario was found in FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 where the promotional Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect costumes were disabled only to be re-enabled by modders later. However, there may still be a similar call to them in game but simply have their unlockable passwords disabled. Many T-shirt style costumes with promotional (and some defunct) brand names are missing. : Allegedly, the sound files on the PC version are of lower quality than the PS2. You can listen to (and extract?) the file with Silent Hill's Sound Explorer. Silent Hill 3\data\sound\demo_afs\bu2f.afs Note: Just found Harry's line in the PC data. : Likely, the call to the audio files is still there and has simply been disabled or the volume turned all the way down. : The flashback voice-over for Harry in the Hilltop Center and the VHS recording of Lisa in the Nightmare Hospital are missing. I made this for personal use and can be further tweaked using Editor for Silent Hill 2/3 Resources.) (Note: This also removes two references to "The Organization"/"The Order" and is replaced with more vague terminology such as "the cult" and "they" to retain the original Japanese language ambiguity. (Always back up your data!) Seems to not work anymore and SH3.exe fails to launch. Copy to the install directory: Silent Hill 3 -> data. : The memo in Brookhaven S1 incorrectly references SH4's 'Wish House' as 'Hope House' : Install Silent Hill 3 PC Fix OR Silent Hill Widescreen FixSee above. : Some dialogue strings and one cutscene are missing from the PC version. : Install Silent Hill 3 PC Fix by Steam006 OR Silent Hill 3 Widescreen Fix by ThirteenAG : 4:3 Aspect Ration only, FOV too wide showing incorrect animations in some scenes I am currently playing through the game on PC and PS2 and comparing and will update as more things are discovered. I wish to facilitated something similar, but on a much smaller scale than was necessary for SH2.īelow are solutions to brings Silent Hill 3 (PC) closer to the PS2 version in a similar way to Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition (PC) is an on-going project that takes the original, very buggy PC port (also sourced from a lesser Xbox port), to bring it closer to the PS2 version with widescreen and support for modern hardware. However, there are still some minor things holding the PC version back from being the definitive edition Silent Hill 3 ( PS2) is nearly identical to Silent Hill 3 ( PC). ![]()
